Moscow mule
Moscow mule is a cocktail from mid-20th century which contributed to the rise of vodka in USA. It combines vodka with ginger beer and lime. It is trendy and refreshing to drink it in ice-cold copper mug. Copper is a superior thermal conductor, so copper mugs respond to the temperature of what is inside, keeping it chilled. When containing a Moscow mule, copper mugs become cool, creating a chilling sensation when sipped.
But when in contact with acidic food or beverage, some copper ions can be released. For heavy drinkers, health risks will more come from alcohol consumption than from copper intoxication.
